The rule this plugin is built around
- No “may contain traces.” A dish either declares an allergen or it doesn’t — there’s no in-between state to hide behind.
- No cross-contamination disclaimer. That feature doesn’t exist here, on purpose — it reads as a liability shield, not information a diner can act on.
- Allergens locked to the legal 14. Fixed by EU Regulation 1169/2011, so nobody can forget to add one, or quietly leave one off.
- Diet tags work either direction. “Hide dishes with pork” and “show only vegan dishes” are both one toggle away — most plugins only give you one.

Categories, sub-categories, prices, descriptions — or bring your whole menu in at once with the CSV importer.

Mark what’s in them
Tick the EU allergens per dish, plus any of your own diet tags — vegan, no alcohol, whatever your kitchen tracks.

One shortcode: [digital_menu]. Pick a theme, or design your own colours and fonts in Custom mode.

Questions people actually have
Is it really free?
Yes. The core plugin is free on WordPress.org — categories, allergens, diet tags, CSV import/export, four themes and full custom design. No account, no upsell wall.
Do I need WooCommerce?
No. Digital Menu keeps its own database tables and doesn’t touch WooCommerce, ACF, or any page builder. It’s a menu, not a store.
Will it clash with my theme?
No — every colour, background and border in the menu is deliberately isolated from your active theme’s own styling, so it never inherits a stray button colour or font by accident.
Can I filter for vegan or vegetarian, not just allergies?
Yes — the Diets screen is fully custom. Add any tag your kitchen needs, and choose per tag whether it hides matching dishes or shows only them.
What happens to my data if I uninstall it?
Uninstalling removes its tables and settings cleanly. Deactivating doesn’t touch anything — your menu is still there if you turn it back on.
